How do I know when to assist in hatching?

It is day 23, and after successfully hatching 7 eggs, my young silkie refused to sit on the eggs any longer. There were still 7 more eggs in the nest this morning, one was pipped and I could hear chirping and feel tapping in two of them. Fortunately I did have an incubator on standby. But this was all accidental to begin with and very exciting for the kids but my anxiety is through the roof!

My chicken friends said it's getting too late for chicks to survive so I picked some of the shell off but that makes the membrane like paper.

Please tell me what I should do.

Here’s a guide to help. I would absolutely assist and do so now if it has been this long. Be prepared for the hen to possibly not accept the babies. Slipping them under her at night may be your best bet for acceptance
