I bought a bunch of chicks from the mystery layer pullet bin at TSC this year. I am becoming very distrusting of the chicks I get from there, 4 of my 6 Barred Rock "pullets" are cockerels... anyhow, I have 6 white chicks which I assume are Leghorns. How do I know if they are in fact Leghorns or Cornish Cross meatbirds? I'm worried that the signage was worng.

Thanks!

Leghorns will be slimmer and the Cornish will be "meatier" and heavier. Also, most of the time Leghorns are very skittish and flighty. I think the cornish would be calmer.

Ahhh, thank you, juliechick!!! They must be Leghorns, because they are the most flighty out of all my babies! You have calmed my mind!
