How do I tell my husband???

My advice when planning an enclosure for silkies is to make sure that the spacing on the wire is as small as you can possibly get it. I lost 3 of my 4 silkies to a hawk that pecked their heads THROUGH 1" chicken wire. The 4th one didn't get pecked because she is VERY pet quality, and her eyes aren't covered up!

If your husband is normal and you say nothing it will all be OK ! My friend added two horses to her pasture by saying gee honey look they shed their coats and now are a different color!!

Ah, just do it like I do. Once I have chicks in my house, my they just all kind of blend in. My husband doesn't count, so I don't tell.

Yeah- but my DH fell in love with my silkie before I did. So maybe a good thing?

My preferred method is to just not say anything or to act like my husband is crazy if he thinks he sees a new bird, LOL. If it *ever* works, I will let you know. He is too swift for his own good though. I can never sneak anything past him, but I keep on trying. I thought this week I was gonna be able to get some Call duck eggs mixed in with ours without him noticing and didn't even successfully pull that one off. LOL, I think he secretly takes an egg/bird inventory every day.

I told him! LOL I used the "new addition" tactic but he knows me too well. His response was "what kind of animal is it?" We already have 4 children so either way it probably wouldn't have blown him away

Either way he had no issue....but did ask if I was done now. I told him my original hope was 20 and I only got 14 bc I knew I couldn't trust myself. 2 to go!

I laughed all the way through these posts, because not only did I come home yesterday with an unexpected 5 chicks of three varieties, but I then went back out with my kids to pick out a few more banties. Hubby didn't really say anything about the first bunch, but I think I need to do the "ask for forgiveness" approach with this latest bunch. I'm done getting chicks, though. My fix is taken care of until next year.
