how do I use diatomaceous earth?

Hello, one of my chicks has mites, and I bought diatomaceous earth, so now I am wondering how I use it on my chicks to get rid of mites.

You can't use it to get rid of mites. It won't help an active infestation. You can use it for some prevention, but for an active infestation, it's not going to help much.

If one of your birds has mites, assume that they all do. You'll want to treat all of them. Buy some permethrin dust or spray, and dust/spray all of your birds. Then clean out their living quarters and use the permethrin on that as well.

You will need to repeat this in ten days to kill new mites that will have hatched from eggs, which aren't killed by the permethrin.
