How do you all feel about the "7 year old joyrider?"

My folks wouldn't have let me set down for at least 2 weeks!!

I was really bad once when I was a teen. My folks took everything but a pair of socks, a pair of underwear, bra, shirt, jeans and shoes. I had to earn back everything. I was stuck with the same clothes every day until I earned new ones!! Took about a year and half to get everything back in my room. They took the door too!!!

How 'bout a punishment that fits the crime? Like washing the car for 6 months every week or no drivers license until he's 18.

Definitely trouble ahead!!!

If he was mine, the least of his worries would have been when and if the police caught him. I would have made sure that however many days that he was grounded, he would have done them standing up! Kids need to learn from their mistakes and my folks sure would have made sure that I learned from this and I would have too!!!!

Seeing as how he wanted to get out of going to church, I have a bit of sympathy for the young lad.

When I was seven years old, if you had given me the choice of going to church or getting my butt paddled sore for misbehavin', I'd have taken the "smackin'," as my grandmother put it. Come to think of it, I'd still rather the smackin'...

But I have to wonder why any parent would advertise on TV that they were incapable of supervising their children in such a way? After the smackin', I think my mother would have died of embarrassment, and sure enough every relative and PTA member would remind her about what a lousy parent she was. In my day, admitting that you couldn't control or supervise your kid meant that Child Protective Services would call for an interview at the very least, and if the parents didn't act sufficiently mortified and contrite, the kids went to foster care. Now the parents brag about it on TV? Yikes.

I saw that! I couldn't believe how well he was driving that car as little as he was!

I would be totally relieved to know my kid was alive first, and after the hugging and kissing and thanking God, well, lets just say someone would have a red fanny for weeks!

Thank the Lord that it all ended well though!
