Actually my hubby doesn't normally say to much~~as long as the animals come in bundles because he's already building one cage/set up...What's another 2 or 3....
It's when I go on longer spurts of not picking up something here or there that he seems to mentions something....

Jason usually says we don't need these animals, or we don't need anymore of this kind....BUT when he sees them he's hooked. Took him to his first ever animal sale in Waverly Iowa earlier this year....Besides the rain and the kids kicking and screaming over wanting animals...Oh wait that might of been me...He had a good time. Took him to his first "animal auction" and besides it taking so long and the kids kicking and screaming and crying over wanting animals (oh wait we didn't take any kids to that auction...SO IT WAS ME)...He had a good time. Now every once in awhile he will ask when the next sale/auction is....
Tough on the outside soft on the inside....
As long as we can afford them~~purchase price, feed, health needs, etc. etc...And we have the space. He's pretty easy to wanting the animals too....

You've gotten a lot of good advice already. I'd just suggest to talk to him about additions or changes to the menagerie and make sure he feels included in the conversation. "I was thinking we should do...." versus "I'd like to do...." so he feels like it's a discussion of options.

My husband was completely dead set against chickens and was not prepared to help me or fund the project in any way, shape or form. Then he did a Very Bad Thing. The chickens are his penance, and he built the run and moved in a coop without complaint. I call them my reparation chickens. He has not had one word of complaint.

I would rather have gotten the chickens without the associated Very Bad Thing, but.... eh. Sometimes this stuff is a package deal.

DH does everything he can to make me happy and vice versa. He lives a pretty lazy, lavish life here, without having to raise a hand to get himself anything. I figure if I keep him spoiled, he can't say no, hence all the eggs, chickens, guineas, goats, rabbits, turkeys, pheasants, quail, chukar and everything else I want that I'm 'allowed' to get, because in the long run, it's all food...

I told my BF I wanted to raise alpacas.

When I started talking about chickens, I'm sure he didn't say anything because it was that or the alpacas! He takes care of all the animals most of the time as I travel for work.

I think he secretly likes the chickens, although he never says so. He just got finished building a second run so we could rotate them over fresh grass. He's also building a separate place for the three new silkie x's I just got, but I'm afraid to mix in with the rest of the flock just yet.

I'm sure your BF just loves you and wants you to be happy!

addendum: I just took your advice and offerred my fiancee the "vice versa" in return for getting some new EE eggs to hatch! She agreed!
