"what would Jesus do?"?

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by this.

just like me,, Jesus was a carpenter... he knew how to charge people...

Actually, I just sold a couple dozen for $3 each just now.

woo-hoo! I think all I really need is a couple regular customers... all I can support, really, if I keep the browns and whites for the VFW.

I love squeaky's response best!! WooHOO!!

but, I just say that IS what they charge for organic free range eggs - you wanna eat chemicals and antibiotics buy your eggs at the store!

Around here this last week there were organic free range hormone free eggs at $6 a dozen !!!!! And people bought them!

When people ask me the price I tell them "$4/doz & the grocery store sells free-range, organic, naturally-nested eggs for $5/doz... not delivered".

If they're still interested, they'll keep pestering me. I haven't had enough extra to sell quite yet, but expect to start this fall. I've got a girlfriend whoI know wants to buy some but she's used to Costco prices. I won't match that, and it's likely that she won't pay more. Rock, meet hard place.

Don't apologize for the price. Find out what comparable eggs sell for inthe grocery store & butcher (best butcher in town sells eggs for $6/doz!!). Price yours a little under that since you don't have the retail mark-up, and then don't make an excuses for it.

If the stupid co-workers can't figure out why you'd give eggs free to a charity but sell them to individuals... well, they're just too dumb to eat fresh eggs.

Seeing as I don't have chickens I do have to buy in eggs. My CSA farm sells eggs for $3. a dozen and I am happy to pay that and drive the 1/2 hour one way for fresh eggs.

The people DD & I have met, specifically because they wanted eggs, are far better customers than friends who have thought they were doing my child a favor. One business associate of mine has even expected DD to deliver a half dozen eggs at a time(!) The "customer" customers (as opposed to the friend-customers) treat it like a business transaction and arrange set weekly deliveries & such. It is easier to deal with them.
