my toms tearing my hens up real bad when mating and i need to despur him but not sure how. can anyone give me any info.

2 man job. One to hold the bird up side down and one to grind them down a little with a grinder. don't over do though. Just take the sharp end off enough to blunt them.

I hunt turkeys and sure do not think a spur can be twisted off a live bird without inflicting serious damage to the leg.

i got them twisted off no problem and the toms doing just fine but there is still bone there but its not sharp so shouldnt do any damage.

It's not so much a twist off but take a pair of pliars and grab the spur and wiggle it back and forth and it will loosen like a tooth and the hard cap will fall right off and not bleed too bad.
