How do you give a baby duckie a bath?

When i try to give my baby duck (Lila) a bath she always run away from the tub and sometimes poops in it..

Lila is about 4-5 days old she is ready for water... But even in a swim she doesn't go in..

I usually wash her up and then dry her with a hair dryer at low temp and speed.. But she runs away from water..
I would like to hear the responces from anyone.

I'd guess she's afraid of it but it could be any reason.

It is perfectly natural for ducks to poop in water. As to why she would be afraid of water, it could be any number of causes. Is the water you’ve been offering warm or cold?

Why would you give a duck a bath? I would suggest the washing and drying is what she doesn't like.

Well, the water is a little colder than warm, natural. But after i bathe her today she starting coughing over and over again..

You can’t forcibly bathe or dry a duck. They will swim, bathe, and preen themselves idependently if provided the water. They are built for swimming.

Why are you bathing her? A baby duck does not need to be bathed, the process is quite distressing to her and you can do more harm than good by stripping natural oils, stressing her, etc

Do you only have one Duckling? Definitely don't bath the Duckling although provide it with swimming water to play in.

As long as they are a couple days old I’ll let mine clean themselves up in some warm water. I just stay with them to be sure they are safe and dry them well and keep them warm out of drafts. Sometimes those little stinkers can really make a mess of themselves, huh?
