How do you keep your chickens out of your garden

I’ve been struggling to grow anything because my hens like to eat anything that comes up any tips on keeping chickens out of the garden

Chicken wire is to keep out chickens.

Chicken wire works great to keep them out, as long as they don't try going over it! So it either needs to be fairly tall, or covered over the top (I used lightweight netting) as well.

I have 3' fencing and my girls have never gone over it in the last 5 years. But then, I purposely grow some tasty plants close to the fence that they can nibble at- mostly kale and lettuce.

Me: oh look! All the parsnip seeds finally sprouted!!

Resident teenager: ugh, chores, whatever…

Me: GAH!! Why are the chickens in the garden!!??!! WHO left the gate unlatched?? WHERE are my parsnip seedlings <wah!>

No, we’ve never grown parsnips since. Maybe I should ask the chickens what they taste like.
