How do you know when bumblefoot treatment can be stopped?

DVM has the wrong doses for a lot of their meds, not sure about the other site. I'm at work and will check later.
Well you got me worried, lol, and upon closer inspection the PoultryMed site's dosage was for the combo of lincomycin-spectinomycin. So i began searching again and had a heck of a time finding any real verification of the injectable dosage of lincomycin for poultry! Finally found the attached pdf though - 0.5ml per 2.5kg, subcutaneous. I ordered Lincomycin 300 instead of 100 though so my dose will be cut by a third...for an 8lb bird, about 0.25cc should do it. That's 75mg, which actually is pretty close to the oral dosage on PoultryDVM.
UPS delivered it this afternoon - fingers crossed it helps her! If not, I'm probably looking at a 3+ hour round trip visit to an avian vet and I'm afraid to even guess how high their bill would be:eek:

You certainly have done your homework. I really hope this will help!

First dose last night went well, and it might have been my imagination but she seemed pretty perky this morning. She didn't eat when I refilled her bowl of food, but she had eaten most of it overnight and practically inhaled a piece of lettuce, lol, and appeared to have just laid an egg, so she probably just wasn't that hungry yet.
I got curious about the foot swellings and lightly poked a couple of them with one of the needles and blood (or at least a very bloody-looking fluid) came out  haven't had much time yet to research, but off the top of my head I can't really imagine what could be going on - anyone have any ideas? Could the infection have ruptured something and caused a hematoma?

Update??

Not much change. I haven't given her anything for the last couple of days and I see no deterioration. IMG_20200714_211430~2.jpg Her foot is still very swollen, and she's still fine otherwise. She waddles around the yard, albeit not as far and not as quickly as the others. She's been laying eggs and nesting in a patch of bee balm. She has a very healthy appetite.
I got brave and tried to drain the lumps one day - here's what I got out: IMG_20200714_212813~2.jpg What I'm wondering now is if it's okay to inject the antibiotic straight into the swollen area? I feel like for the systemic antibiotics to not be working, and for her to be fine otherwise, it must just be a walled-off pocket of infection...right?

Oh that looks nasty. I mean, I think your theory on injecting directly seems sound, but maybe @casportpony @Isaac 0 or @Miss Lydia would know better...

Poor thing. It’s good that she seems fine otherwise but you still wish you can fix her up quick!

I think you need to see a vet.
I did at the beginning of all of this, but I didn't feel like she was much help. Are we at the point now that she's going to have to open up her foot and clean out the whole infected area though?
Edit: Did a bit of research and answered my own question - yes, it needs opened up and drained and cleaned out, and injecting antibiotics into probably won't help much at this point.

If you got all of that out of the swollen area then I would imagine that draining is definitely a must. Sometimes after a length of time animals can build up immunity to medication if they have been on it for a long period of time. Maybe asking the vet to suggest a different antibiotic for this specific area of concern?
