How does an egg turner work? (DIY incubator planning)

I’m planning a fairly large incubator diy. But have never used an egg turner. Does the sequence go:

1hr - turn left 45• - 1 hr turn right 45. Etc

Or

1hr - turn left 45• - 1hr turn centre 45• - 1hr turn right 45• etc

I presume I will need a limiter switch?

I think your first option is more common, but either one can work.

Unfortunately I don't know about that.

I'd check how 45° works for you. The turners I've had that went that far were sometimes prone to eggs falling out.
Just a thought.
Also idk If you need them turned ever hour. Back in the day it was very common to only turn 2 or 3 times a day. I think my big incubator makes one complete turn every 6 hours.
