I ended up lining it with some 1/2 inch garden wire up to about 6 inches all the way around & over the door from the inside. Thanks for your input!

How many are you getting?

I raised 7 chicks in a 4x4 space last summer and 12 in a 4x8 space this year and found that after the initial few days to get over the shock of being shipped they made full use of ever square inch I could give them.
