How early have your birds started laying?

My girl has laid an egg every day since she started laying!

I have heard that brahma's can be a little later then average. Most chickens will start laying between 20-24 weeks with some a little early and some a little later. Brahma's can take up to 7 months before they start to lay.

Finally had a special day , 8 hens - 8 eggs! But as I was putting them in the basket I dropped one , was going to take pic of them , now I will have too wait for another special day. Usually get 6-7 a day which is great for these 5 month old hens.

I tell my RIRs and my NN's to get with it already that the rent has been long over due and I know the eggs are coming because they are all practice squatting and they have been doing the egg song. I also told them that Prissy and Popcorn my leghorns get special treats because they lay eggs and if they want the special treat then they best get to laying!

Just take one from the previous day, and add to the basket to make your 8. No one will know the difference!!! It really did happen, although one of the eggs is a day older.

It is funny my RIR and NN are both in the nesting boxes after I gave the lecture this morning. So hopefully when I go to collect eggs there will be 2 new eggs to add to the mix!
