Prom is one of those things that if you REALLY want to go you will have a blast, but if you are ambivelent about it, don't bother. If you are totaly psyched about going, you may not have all that much fun. It is a personal choice. I never went and I do not regret it for a second.

I suppose, only you can answer that for yourself. When you're at your 25th class reunion (if you go-- I'm not going to mine this year) will it matter to you that you missed prom? I went to Jr and Sr proms-- don't recall anything special that happened at either, and probably wouldn't miss it if I hadn't gone. Also havent' gone to a reunion since the 5th one (25 is this year) and probably won't go til 50th-- and then only to see who's still around, LOL

The Prom is nothing to worry about. IMO there are so many other things to invest your time and $$$$ into. Some people do go with friends, but if its not that important to YOU, then you should not bother. Do what feels comfortable to you.

Don't let people make you feel like you missed out on a big memory/event if it's not important to you. I didn't go to mine and have never even considered feeling like I missed out :p Lead your own life, do your own thing, be honest to yourself and have no regrets!!!

I went to both of mine (Junior and Senior year). My junior one was fun, but nothing exciting. My senior one was a joke...the DJ didn't show up. I don't think it really matters...especially if your friends aren't going. It has been a little over 10 years and I don't think that I would have missed it much other than the "what if" thoughts.

Why don't you and your friends plan something fun to do in lieu of prom. That way it is something you all enjoy and looking back, you won't have the "what if" thoughts because you did something fun instead!

My wife forced my senior to ask out a neighbor girl... he's happy he's going now but it was no fun at the beginning.

my Sophomore got asked out by a girl. She's not of our faith, but she is a good girl so we said he could go with her.

All I know is PROM IS VERY EXPENSIVE!... and I'm letting my senior take the beemer.

If you miss it I doubt you will regret it. Proms aren't what they used
to be.

Im a freshman in college. Skipped it my junior year and went senior year with my bf. I'm not a big dancer, but I'm glad I went. I didn't go junior year and didn't regret it. But I'm glad I went the last time. It was good to see people you know all dressed up and talk and not be worried about school.
