Are you going to check for fertility and hatch some out? Chick's are going to be in short supply for a while. I got another email today like the one I got yesterday from Murry McMurry's, and this one was from Hoover's. I think that Hoover is the one they use to supply chick's to the TSC. I'm setting a few egg's here in my incubator tomorrow night.

Do you rehome any or invite them for dinner at a later date?
I sold quite a few. I was keeping track in a document- just erasing birds that were gone so it was just the birds I still had- and it says I should have one more than I do but... i have vague memories of selling one of Foghorn's hens but my notes say I didnt

Yeah I think I'm just gunna take today's eggs and give them to my broody instead of breaking her lol
but they're American game mixed with Orpington so they're not exactly the chicks everyone wants lol

You never know. Some people don't mind having the mutt chicken's, as long as they can still lay egg's. I have a feeling that chick's are going to be hard to come by this spring. With the post office having that embargo on the hatcheries, it's going to put all of the hatcheries on order delay's and it will take them time to get caught up.

It's good to start a hatch now, and the pullet's will be laying egg's before the colder weather set's back in at the end of the year, and should be able to lay through next winter.

I've heard that Orpington's can be pretty broody too as a breed, but lay bigger egg's.

Speaking of bigger egg's, I need to get some of those jumbo sized egg cartons, and Stromberg's has them on sale this week. I just got an email from them letting me know. I have a Naked Neck hen that lay's egg's too big to close the lid on the large sized one's properly. That's why I didn't want to add her egg's to my incubator tomorrow night.
