How is your flock today?

Pics
Yesterday, my cockerel and pullets officially became rooster and hens! yay! :celebrate

They also got out for the first time (my fault), and it took an hour to get them back in. boo!:duc

Nobody got hurt and they had an adventure! yay... ish... :hmm

Stressed the heck out of me!
One year old that is awesome Congrats! :celebrate Why so long to round them up, couldn't find them ?

We are very lucky with our four girls if they get out, I just walk over to them and they squat down and I just pick them up. LOL Our Ducks is another story if they get out and start to explore.

I keep a big fish net on hand for when our two Mallard hens started to fly over the fence and the chase was on! LOL It's the perfect net, it has a big hoop with a handle that extends out and the net has small holes and has a rubberized coating on it.

My flock is doing fine, think I've managed to build up trust with the pullets. They come running to cuddle my hand when I put my hand in and 'cluck' at them, the runt Chloe-Sue likes to 'ride' in my hand and often refuses to hop out on her own haha.
My ducklings have been growing like crazy and are starting to lose some of their downy fluff and grow in feathers (scared me half to death when I first saw the bald patches until I noticed the little white feathers poking through)

This is a good site to know when those windows updates are having problem's and what to do:

Congrats on your five year that is awesome! :celebrate I will have to check that site out, thank you. :) I am far from being any type of computer wizard when it comes to messing with them. I am just fortunate my old Junker has done so well over the years without any major problems.

Now I just jinxed myself right! LOL So if one day you don't hear from me you will know what happened! :gig

Hello and welcome to our little group. :) That is always a good thing when everyone is doing well.

Is this your first time with poultry? How many of each and what breeds?

Our mixed small flock of chickens and ducks recently turned a year and I am starting to have a few issues and soon to be in their own coops.

Not my first time with poultry, but it's been quite a few years since I've raised any birds so it's been an experience getting back into it!
I currently have 4 mixed color comet pullets and 2 Pekin ducklings. I have 4 American buff goslings on the way as well, so I'm excited to start raising them too! Honestly so far the only real annoying thing has been changing the bedding for the ducklings though I'll chalk that up to me still experimenting with the best combination of bedding materials and how often I change it (currently change it every two days at most, though that's liable to turn into every day once the goslings get here and the ducklings are bigger)!
Kind of surprised at how accepting the ducklings are towards the chicks on the rare occasion they interact, the ducks just waddle up to the tiny chooks and nibble and cuddle like they had all hatched together.

They aren't lap chickens, so they don't let me hold them. I had to herd them back to the run. I put a small auxiliary fence around the door so this can't happen again.

Might not have been an hour. Felt like longer, though!
When I helped take care of my friend's flock of Rhode Island Whites I'd time their last feeding to be in the evening when it was around the time for them to go back into their run, don't know if that'd work for you but it seemed to minimize my time spent chasing a panicked hen into the run!

I hated that episode kept them in for week after that . Now it's a breeze funny how hard it is when they're young 🤣
