How is your flock today?

That is so awesome .... do you go with DH up north? And how about those little wild hogs you have? Sorry but I forget their name? I wish I could have done that when I was down there.

No, I'm not into hunting. He won't be alone though, because he and a friend of our's put in for the hunt together. That friend buy's egg's from me.

Those "hog's" are javalena's.

I'm not into goat's, but sheep I do like though. Because of the heat that is over here, I would have to have the type that would shed itself.
Ooh rooing, from what I know not many do it, more of a heritage breed thing. Shetland sheep do it though!! I actually don't know of any others. Of course there's hair sheep. Im not into those though.

Nope , I have not seem one and would be very interested, I am sure they are an amazing animal if you are caring for them! :loveYou obviously have their best interests at heart, and that is very admirable ! :)
Thank you so, so much. That means a lot. Really made me feel better as somebody this morning insinuated it was wrong and barbaric of me to do the crop impact surgery. Ugh. Speaking of Ruby, she's doing so amazing. Today her eye is completely cleared up now and it looks to me like she has her vision completely!! Not only that, she can bend down to the ground to eat and drink now so I don't have to hold the bowls up. She's still off balance quite a bit but she's making huge improvements everyday. I mean just yesterday she couldn't eat or drink off the ground. :) Here's some photos I took Monday. I take her outside everyday for fresh air. Hopefully haven't posted these already, sorry if I have. Thanks for listening to me talk about her. Not many others I can talk about this with in detail, sure you understand :)

Yes those things, spelled with a J but sounds like an H. LOL I had neighbors that were a retired older couple who enjoyed Bow Hunting and each fall they would go up North to hunt also and Javalena's is one animal they talked about.

No worries, I understand completely, keep talking if you like. :) I am amazed by what you done for your hen to make her better and she is recovering and getting better by the day, that's awesome.

I am not sure I could have pulled that one off, I have a hard enough time dealing with egg bound issues. I am afraid that I am not getting the syringe down far enough and in the right spot. So far after having done it a few times it's a little easier and we haven't lost anyone yet.

It's unfortunate that undereducated people have to post comments like that. IMO, Barbaric would be having a horse who just broke it's leg and not doing the humane thing sooner over later, some people just don't get it.

The other day I had to LOL when I seen someone posted that people shouldn't eat chickens because they are all pets. Sometimes I just have to bite my tongue and keep my comments to myself, but there has been a time or two I have slipped. :gig

Back home growing up I knew of a few older retired people that were called Snowbirds and Phoenix AZ was their other residents half the year. I can understand why after having experienced that extreme hot weather in the summer and it's definitely not for everyone.

We are just now starting to get the extreme humidity in this part of the country for the summer and that type of miserable weather isn't for the faint of heart either! LOL

This part week we have been getting small thunderstorms that have been rolling through in the late evenings. It doesn't rain much, but just enough to keep the day time humidity in the miserable zone.

There's a few big forest fire's going on around the state now. Everything is so dry. They are telling people that have home's in the area that the fire is moving to evacuate. The wind is helping to push it along. One of the fire's is located near one of the area's that my DH put in for the deer hunting in the fall. If the one's that are called snowbird's have a house up there near those area's, they might end up loosing it from the fire.

I have a quick question I want to ask, that I figured was better to ask on this thread, haha. Two or so weeks ago I got some guinea keets to help battle the ticks, as they have been PARTICULARLY bad this year. The keets are adorable, but they eat so much. They also have developed much faster than your average chick. Is this normal? Or do keets just eat massive amounts of food and grow quickly? They are too little to let forage at the current moment, because otherwise I would have them out foraging right now. They are on a game bird starter/grower feed.
