I haven't named any of my chickens after anyone yet for just that reason. I'm also afraid I'll name a chick after someone special, and have it be a cockerel I have to get rid of, or a brat girl who isn't very nice.

I can't tell you what my Colored Dorking rooster's name is, as he reminded me of someone political because of his head coloring. Nothing more then that was behind the naming.

Just in case you were wondering about my Welsh Harlequin duckling hatch... 2 died in the shell (one would have been a boy and one a girl), and 2 boy's that weren't strong enough to thrive so they died. I ended up with 3 active boy's, and 1 active girl. They have been eating some of the 22% chick feed that I had on hand, and are drinking the water good. The boy's think that my ring's on my finger's might be edible and keep trying to get them.

Yes, I set those one's on Dec. 28th, due to hatch on Jan. 17th.

Me neither. I hope I get the boy that I need for the girl's that I hatched back in Nov. I ended up with my 5 pullets that time. It's so nice to be able to tell what sex that these are at hatch.
