Rustic cabin. Lots of rough-hewn oak that the owner/builder ripped themselves. Grey, weathered barnwood on the livingroom walls, framed in more rustic wood molding. I knew this was the place for me the second I walked in. I have a log bed, rustic pine armoire, rustic pottery bowls, a primitive bench my dad and I built ourselves, painted wood furniture, old quilts. Horrible mauve carpeting I haven't been able to replace, and lots of dirt clods and dog hair that I struggle daily to remove. Pen and ink drawings of horses, Belgians, a beautiful pastel of my old Belgian, done by a good friend.Very animal and nature themed. My friends all say they love it the first time they see my little house. I love it, too
I wouldn't call my home decorating, decorating! It's more of a catch-all / teenager's room look alike wanna-be. And sad part is, no kids here to blame it on!!!!!
He was hand carved with a chain saw in a competition we went to... He won first place!! It's incredible what the chainsaw carvers can accomplish in only 1 hour
I was going to say mine is decorated in dust, and I noticed I am not the only one.And it is not by choice either.Must be my vents loaded or my vacuum is just really bad.
No theme here.Plain walls except in the kids room where they have posters and paintings.Ds's room was decorated as a race car room with striped colors and checker flags.I am painting that this summer.Dd's room is pink.Painting that too.You see that stuff when looking at a house thinking you will paint the rooms, but if you move in before you do then it takes forever to get around to it. I took a week to paint our first place,a condo, BEFORE we moved in.
I am not into themes or colors.Just clean and forever cleaning up clutter.I do like having plants indoors too.If it wasn't so expensive I would replace our gas fireplace with a wood burning stove like my grandma used to have.I loved that thing.I suppose I lean towards country in that respect.
Love that wooden rooster!!! I always collected chicken stuff for my mom,but now I am getting into them too.
19hhbelgian -
gorgeous porch! I like the time worn stuff too. My mom doesnt understand. lol. She still asks me why the $149 antiqued black jelly cabinet I just bought (wish we had MADE one instead. Got a workshop full of tools and equip!) has places where the black looks a bit worn off. I said its supposed to be that way - antiqued look. She cocks her head sideways in puzzlement as to why and why I would want that. I'll have to take some pics today
