I know this is an old post but just thought my experience would help someone somewhere

I am new to hatching and i stared off with 6 eggs. I have had 3 hatch easily but I had to assist the 4th. She pipped externally early hours of Saturday morning, around 3am. I expected her to hatch during Saturday time, no luck, the opening only opened slightly. Other eggs that had externally pipped after her were zipping. Come Sunday, I held my patiencce. The incubator had never been opened and humidity always between 65 and 75%. Monday unfortunately I was out all day and I had hopes that she would be out. But when I got back in at 8pm, egg was still the same. I decided to help, but at this point I didnt even know if she was dead or alive. It had been more than 48 hours since her external pip...So I turned on the shower to raise humidity. I then went to quickly snatch the egg from the incubator, wrapped in wet but warm kitchen roll. To my delight, I could hear her chirping from within the egg. But boy without help she wouldn't have come out. The membrane had hardened and it was good that i was in the shower room for this part. The humid air just helped soften things, I slowly peeled off the egg shell, leaving just the york bit still attached. The membrane just came off easily after, she was ready to come out! I quickly rushed her back to the bator and she looked exhausted, wasnt moving and i didnt think she would make it. But anyway, I had done what I can so I decided to let nature do its thing. I am glad to say that after a couple of hours she was banging about the bator, chirping away! So all in all I have hatched 4 out of 6 so far.
Egg no 5 looks infertile, egg no 6 am not sure if it will hatch, looks developed so will give it up to day 25 and toss.
I used one of those automatic egg turning yellow chinese bators because my budget wouldnt stretch to
brinsea. However, i dont recommend them because the humidity alarm keeps beeping once humidity is 45% and below. I have looked for solutions online with no success. So that's my newbie hatch story.
