I have 50 Coturnix eggs set to hatch next Friday/Sat.

I am planning on keeping them inside in the basement brooder for the first few weeks (like the chickens are right now).

I am just wondering how old they have to be to move them to the outdoor coup.

Although we had our first snow of the year here (only like 3-4 inches) the coop is still at 48 degrees in this 28 degree weather!
And that is with no additional heat, or insulation or straw!!

But how old do the coturnix have to be to be moved out to the shed? When do they full feather out?

Coturnix are ready to eat in 6 weeks
we put ours out after 4 sometimes 5 weeks
Main thing is watch your birds they will grow fast
Not real sure at colder temps 5-6 I would think

Good question. I have some indoor birds I bought that weren't acclimated to outdoors, so they will be inside until spring. If I want to hatch some (and I think I do) I want them OUTSIDE. The quad I have inside makes enough mess! LOL
