How long do baby chicks need to be in the brooder

As long as your coop is secure and free from cold drafts, there's no reason the chicks can't move into it right now. Make sure to secure the heat lamp with at least two fire-proof fasteners and have it at a height where the floor directly beneath is around 85 degrees. The rest of the coop can be any temperature. I'm sure your chicks will be thrilled to have a nice big space to run around after being stuffed in a tiny brooder tub.

One degree colder from one week old per day of age or use a heat lamp until all of there feathers are in. General rule.... make sure they can not fit through the wire, our any other crack. Make sure nothing else can fit there paws in and grad a bird, or dig in. Give weeks old is a good size for the coop,

Great advice!

I don't have electric in my coop, so I have to wait a bit longer before I put new chicks in it. I made them a nice big brooder out of two large dog crates and I keep them in there until they're fully feathered or the weather gets warm.

Ok thank everyone that was good advice
