Ok can you clarify for me this? You said they are breaking the shell and not the membrane?? That's impossible, the membrane is on the inside, they have to go through that before they can even get close to that shell??
One pipped and hadn't made progress and i nudged the broken shell pieces off gently to find the membrane was dry, and still in tact, kind of a toasted marshmallow color and a rough looking texture.
So i gently used a knife to just barely puncture it just in case he couldn't breathe and its doing better now. the last pipped egg looks like its having the same problem but its only been around 8 hours so i don't want to touch it yet.
