How long does hatching process take?

Ok can you clarify for me this? You said they are breaking the shell and not the membrane?? That's impossible, the membrane is on the inside, they have to go through that before they can even get close to that shell??

One pipped and hadn't made progress and i nudged the broken shell pieces off gently to find the membrane was dry, and still in tact, kind of a toasted marshmallow color and a rough looking texture.
So i gently used a knife to just barely puncture it just in case he couldn't breathe and its doing better now. the last pipped egg looks like its having the same problem but its only been around 8 hours so i don't want to touch it yet.

Now that im here might as well show you the rest. one is malpositioned as well as having the tough membrane and its been 24 hours with no progress so i made the hole a little bigger and its chirping and nibbling the membrane. the other managed to pip through the membrane on his own.

About the Brinsea, yes, there are alarms, however, the only time my alarms went off was when we had a power failure. Meaning, the bator never got to hot or cold or the humidity different from my setting. This incubator is extremely reliable! I'm a complete Noob! This was my first time ever incubating, and yet all 3 eggs I put in lockdown hatched.

I can't recommend this unit enough!

One thing I like about the Brinsea is they have an alarm for the temp. I would wake up out of a dead sleep and run to their rescue if I could hear a buzzer!! Thank you so much for your help during the past couple of days. They have been really stressful for me and you really helped me feel much better. I did do my best and I have learned that you can never take the whole hatching process for granted. I've thought about Holderreads- just ordering my ducklings. Do you have any experience with them? No one in my state raises SA ducks so I have to have either eggs or ducklings shipped to me if I want this breed. Have you heard anything good or bad about them?

Is this the Mini Brinsea??

Your going to need to assist the malposition one, help him out, peal back ALL the shell from the AIR cell NOT where his hole his. Where the air cell is, wet the membrane and show me a pic
