How long have your heat lamp bulbs lasted?

A long time... as long as you don't drop them like I've done more then once

Sometimes a long time, sometimes a month, but I always have at least 2 heat sources plugged into different outlets. We haad an outlets go bad and both lights go off. If we hadn't been home they would have been bad off if not dead by the time we got home.

I just use 2 lamps, each with one 100W or less bulb in it, on a dimmer if I need it cooler. They usually last 2-3 years of chicks, so about 6-8 months of on time before they blow. I don't use "heat bulbs".

Yes that's my beautiful silver laced polish, back when she was about 5-6 weeks. Because of her crazy hairdo, we thought she was a cockerel for a long time!

I had one that only lasted a month.

I use redundant systems. At least two lamps... each one secured twice. At least two waterers... multiple feeders. I'm not paranoid.. I swear!

Speak of the devil...

So just now I was next to the chicks and suddenly I felt a change. I was like...what just happened?

I look around...

Then I see the chicks heat lamp just went out. And its still plugged in.

I thought, I should go ask those guys in the internet how long they should last. And everyone else is already here asking the same thing. :P

This one time burning out is my 2nd day on third batch of chicks. I used it for about two months each on the previous batches. So this would be about 4 months for the bulb to last.

I don't think that's really that great to be honest. I had hoped for 6 months worth out of it. But 4 months isn't too bad compared to the accounts above by others that only got 1 month out of it.

Now I have to remember where I put the spare bulb....
