How long til fertile?

I put a rooster in with my hens today and caught him doing the deed already, how long should I wait before they would be ready to incubate?

he finishes very fast , only takes the guy seconds 1 or 2

I agree. Three days after mating. Has he mated with all of them or just a few? I don't have your set-up or numbers, but with my numbers and set-up, I'd wait a couple more days to make sure he has had a chance to cover all the hens.

I have 8 hens 1 roo. I would only pull the eggs from the ones I know he has mated. I have different kinds so I can tell the eggs apart, Plus I keep a steady eye on my girls LOL
It is his first night with the girls and he already has a favorite. Just didn't know if I would have enough time to throw a couple in with my shipped eggs. Would it matter if I put one in after I set the others? It would only be a day behind.
