Morning everyone

I have a sick hen. I'm treating her now and was wondering. How long after her symptoms stop can I reintroduce her to the main flock? She's still sick right now but not sure how long to wait to put her back when she's better.

I'd wait until the necropsy comes back showing its not anything she'll carry for life

Yeah I hope not. To be honest, the rest of my chickens (not the ducks) had a very similar illness a month ago. The whites didn't seem to catch it. But I treated everyone when symptoms started and it cleared up in a few days. So maybe my other birds already had it. We shall see.

How does one do a necropsy on a live bird?
Maybe she had a swab test done?

What were the symptoms?
Likely they have all been exposed and are now carrying,
so putting her back with the flock is not an issue(other than single bird integration issues).

So I had a cockerel that recently died from what I assume is Fowl Cholera. The necropsy is being done on the cockerel.

I brought these two birds to a show a few weeks ago. They caught it there I'm assuming. After every show, I put the birds in quarantine. So they have not been in contact with the main flock for weeks and since getting back from the show. So absolutely no contact with the main flock.

I would absolutely wait until the results come back in on the cockerel.

You're waiting for more test results to come in.

Lungs grey to green is a major concern, hopefully they can tell you what caused that.

Once you find out what's going on, you may determine that it's not appropriate to put the hen back with the flock even if she does recover. While you may have seen similar symptoms within the flock, they did respond quickly to medication/treatment while the Cockerel and this Hen have not responded, you may be dealing with something completely different or with other complications that the necropsy will reveal.

It would be wise to close your flock(s). This may be a difficult decision to make since you show birds, but it's very hard to practice good biosecurity in a backyard setting. You risk bringing illness to your birds and/or taking it to shows and spreading it.
