how many days 'til houseguest start to smell? Not so many....

chickensducks&agoose :

they're more like semi-friends. We chat when we see each other, and I heard that they were looking for a field to camp in for the summer, and to barter farm work for their stay... didn't plan on them IN MY HOUSE for the building process... and guess what? They're not even working on it at all today! i left the house at 10am, they were sleeping still... came back at 1, and they're gone...

I would tell them the situation has changed and that they're going to have to find somewhere else to stay and build their yurt. Anyone who does what they've done in someone's house they aren't related to or even close friends with sound like moochers big time to me. Bad enough if they were family or close friends, but semi-friends makes it even worse IMO....they aren't even trying to make a good impression.

sounds like they have a good thing going.. nice bed to sleep in.. nice weather.. what's the rush to get out????? i would say your expecting co. in 3 weeks and need the bedroom back so they better hurry and get into their yurt.. it is only a 'little" white lie. and its none of their business when the co. doesn't arrive.. and what is going to happen in the fall and winter when they "have no place " to go to???? don' t let them back inside!

I wrote them a note... and will give it to them without feeling bad after the next incident... 1. wet diapers on carpet and furniture, 2. dirty pots left on stove for more than 24 hours 3. overflowing refrigerator space.... 4. broken picture.... bad enough, but i don't want to be mean (PMS is making it a little hard to keep my cool), so I'm going to wait until i get #5, and then lay down the law.

If it's broken, fix it
if it's dirty, clean it
if it's messy, pick it up
if it's not yours, ASK

You have much more patience than I would.....and I don't even suffer from PMS anymore!!

well, I'm sort of doing both... venting and LOVING how much more confidence you guys are giving me, helping me be more staightforward, instead of beating around the bush, or silently fuming...

We got home, and the pot was gone... like not in the house... so I went out, and the guy was eating soup out of the pot with a spoon... then he went in the house ad wiped up the counter, and washed the pot... but not the spatula that they'd used for the mac and cheese, and not his spoon, and a few other things were in the sink that I don't recognize... so I stuck them in the dishwasher... so at least they understand that I expect them to clean up after themselves... but they just aren't good at it.... and they haven't even got nails in the platform yet... no nails... just set together... they better have it really moving forward, or I'm going to ask them to vacate my guest room... they've got until next wednesday before I 'need the space for other visitors'...

Stick to your guns...remember it's your house....not theirs. I was wondering what are the ground rules for after they move into their yurt? Are they still going to have access to your house for the bathroom and such?

Supposedly they're going to go in a bucket, and then empty that into a 50 gal. drum, and take it with them when they go... GROSS... but better than them in myhouse, or crapping in my yard.

GROSS is right! ewwwwww
