How many eggs can a hen lay per day?

I thought they could only lay 1 a day at most. I have just joined this forum and have learned so much already.

Xs 2. Though there are always freak occurrences due to various reasons, 1 every 25 hours tends to be the standard for breeds that lay on a daily basis. Most breeds takes even longer. Regardless of the daylight.

I am new at raising chickens and I though as well they lay every day.. hmmm I think she is just being stubborn. Is there something I can do to increase her egg laying.

what breed is your chicken? How long has it been laying? Is it winter or summer there?

If you don't have a prolific layer breed, the way to get more eggs is to get a different breed.

I was thinking only 1 per day, but my Jewel had not laid by the time I got home from work and, when I went to lock up, there were 2 eggs. She's been laying on the floor for over a month now, don't know why and I hope she goes back to the nest, but surely it couldn't be one of the babies already? Both were the same size and both were warm, so had been laid recently. My chicks hang out in her coop (she's alone) so maybe one of them but which? They are only 16 weeks, but that age is a guess.

First timer here. I have 6 hens and a couple just started laying (6+ months old). Wanted varity so I have 3 Wyandots, 2 Bantams, and 1 Barred Rock. I know for sure that my BR has been laying 2 per day be a use I heard and watched her. Her very 1st egg was a jumbo double yolker and she laid a second one today. Started laying 2 weeks ago. I only get 2-3 eggs per day and honestly don't think anyone but Milly is laying yet, even though she is the youngest since I wanted 6 hens and 1 was a rooster. So I got her 1.5 months after the other 5. All were 8weeks when I got them. So why aren't the other girls laying yet? 1st bag of Layer is 1/2 eaten at this point, so they are truly just starting to lay.
Did end up with a broken egg in coop today, not sure if soft or canibalized since I watched my Silver Wyandot go into one of the nest boxes and kick out all the straw/shaving while I was cleaning the coop today.
Finally, my coop is inside of 10x12' chain link dog kenel with a chain link top so they are predator safe. The kenel is inside the fenced in yard that houses 2 Australian Cattle Dogs and 1 Black Lab. The girls have learned that nothing can bother them so they have been summering up on the roof of their coop. Will they decide when it gets colder to roost in the coop on the roosting poles or will I need to force the issue?
Thank you for the advice

I have a question. I have 4 long island reds and only one started laying and my question is is it normal for her to lay every 4 days..

A new layer will sometimes lay sporadically until she gets her system "geared up". Then, depending on lighting and other factors, she'll lay regularly. Some birds lay 6 - 7 eggs/week, others less often.

Milly may be sharing the nest box with an other gal or two. They can be sneaky. When my current pullets started laying this summer, it was surprising which ones started laying first. Re: winter time: you'll have to wait and see how that plays out. Inspect your coop to be sure there's not a reason for them to be avoiding it: mites, mice...

I have a similar thing going on with my chickens but to the extreme. I have one Silkie that is about 8 weeks older than 4 autralorps that are about 5 months old. the Silkie started laying eggs about three weeks ago at 1 egg per day and now I have about 4 eggs per day and at lease one double yolker every other day. I don't think the Australorps are laying yet because of thier age and the eggs are all rather small like the original silkie eggs. so do I just have an over active Silkie or premature Laying australorps?
The Silkie seems to be the only one setting in the laying box and the eggs are always in the same box where she was so do I have a freak of a chicken? I checked the box first thing this morning and then my son called to tell me there were three eggs in the box two hours later. All the same size and color in one box.
Any ideas?
