Answering ? how many chickens from @Duckee. I wanted 4 had to buy 6 minimum from store. I bought day old chicks 3/30/2016. One passed away on day 4 at feeder during the early morning,away from heat lamp. I believe she fell asleep and got chilled. So I have 5 and wish all 6 survived. I would like 12 total of multi color egg layers,thanks to all the beautiful colored egg pics many have posted. But I would have to build a bigger coop to have more than 6 chickens. So I have my original 5 survivors 10 months later.

8/ 10 layers apparently! + 1. So i collected my 8 eggs & had ony 1 blue instead of 3 , but noticed i had an extra brown one than usual. So either my 5 month old BC marans or my 9 minth old olive egger is laying...either way, ITS THE WRONG COLOR! Its not olive or dark chocolate, its standard brown!!!! My only hope is that one of my others decided to lay 2 today.
