How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

3/8 again.. Old girls are putting the hurt on the pullets. that makes..22-0 old girls. I have 3 lavender Ameraucana pullets that are 30 weeks and two Asian Blue pullets that are 22 weeks now and nothing. This is the old gang.

Each one of these hens lays a different size and shape egg so theres no cheating..

Those lavender Ameraucana are SLACKERS!! Though out of 25 girls in 3 batches, I have had 2 take 30+ weeks, but not 31 so yours better get on the nest! Congrats on the older girls still laying.

17 eggs today from 24 pullets 5 blue eggs from my 5 EE,s usually get mostly 4 from them each day, very happy with them, bought 3 six month old EE cockerels to see if i can hatch some more of them in the spring, with the 24 pullet total it should work out to an 8 to 1 ratio if it goes as planned.

The lavs did start to lay. we got abot 10 eggs from them. nothing in the last two weeks. Nothing.

Sounds like my stupid Exchequer Leghorns! Started, ran for a couple of weeks then stopped and their combs lost color and shrank.

Yeah I guess but those girls better be laying their little butts off come spring, they are supposed to be very good layers and I was depending them to be 2 of 6 laying all winter.

I threatened my old girls coming out of their hard molt to be a soup of the day. worked perfect! You ......could try that or don't expect too much until march. I'm just glad they are good. 21 tonight 7 inches of snow. lol. tough being a chicken...

4/8 today. 2" of snow so far, already more than we had all last winter. The girls didn't like it and stayed in the run all day. A couple years ago when we had a real winter with plenty of snow, we had trouble with the new flock finding their way back to the roost. We kept finding them all huddled together in odd places in the yard at night. I started keeping a swept path to the coop and they finally got the hang of it. Now we have some experienced chickens who lead the way for the newbies.

only reliable layer I have is a ameracauna lavender at that 3 of 11 where pullets one has started laying only bird laying in the main coop every couple days getting 3 from the new coop or 1 out of there today so 2
