How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

0, zip, nada today. First eggless day in over 2 years. Guess they really didn't like the snow, or it's too many old and molty hens and underachieving pullets. Ahh, we won't complain too much. After all they gave us a ton of wonderful eggs all year and we are approaching the winter solstice. :idunno

was able to give my best customer 2 dozen he usually gets but took us down to 2 eggs was real relieved to see 4 today really thought I would have to buy eggs

It is amazing how many eggs one gets over time. I track so I can know who is laying.
- The 2012 girls have laid nearly 5,000! There were originally 12. Lost 1 early March 2014, another at the end of April. 2 more July last year, another in August and the last of the losses in April this year (though she had been laying only shell less eggs this year.
- There were originally seven 2015 girls, lost one in Sept 2016. They have laid 2,700.
- Even the 2017 girls, 6 of them, have laid over 130 and the Leghorns started in September and quit in August.

I still have only one of my six girls laying but she has laid one perfect brown egg (1.8-1.9 ounces) for eight of the last nine days. She is a BO, born in late May and started laying in October. She has been beautifully consistent, missing only every fourth or fifth day.
My other ladies are still slacking although another BO is squatting (really---slamming herself to the ground when I am five feet away!) and her comb and wattles are vivid red and have bloomed in the last week or so.
So there is hope. :love

Noneed to hope, she'll be putting eggs in the nest really soon. Isn't it funny when they pancake like that??
