How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I went out at 7AM to unfreeze the watering cups. There were 7 eggs waiting already.

Cleaned out the nest boxes today. Put straw in one as I thought it would be warmer for them while they molt. Come bed time 2 chickens would prefer to sit on the root than touch the straw. At least I know how to retrain them to sleep on the roost once molt is over.

I got one today, that's two days in a row!

I did add extra straw in the boxes as they were looking rather empty. The egg was laid afterwards.

May hit up the Amish road stand tomorrow and grab some eggs for my daughter, who will be home for the day! Usually I send her with a couple dozen…but we only have a handful…maybe I’ll grab 2 dozen, one for us!

Tis the time of year, I expect my ladies to start slowing down now.

I got 3. Most In one day so far. 3/5 pullets are laying. Waiting for the other two to start!

Got 7 out of 8 so far this morning. Seems all my chickens are anxious to lay their eggs in the morning after roosting over 13 hours in the dark!
The length of visible daylight today is only 10 hours, 24 minutes, and will be getting even shorter over the next month.
