How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

We are down to day length of 8hrs 26mins and loosing 3 mins a day. Will be down to 7 hrs 29 on the solstice.

Not checked for whhs this last 2 days. Martha is shedding feathers fast, that makes all of them although the others are mostly white again.

This is the latest in the year I ever have my gals moulting, I am going with the fact it’s been really mild here. Now it’s below freezing outside and I expect my older ladies to stop laying shortly.

The youngsters are another story - who knows what will happen with their laying pattern.

Zero yesterday, and it appears one of my 7 month old pullets is molting...

That's Samuel, one of two cockerels, and NOT the boss of the flock. He is very quiet around the head roo, Joel, and is not confrontational. I call Samuel the "roo in the queue".

My girls slowed to 2 eggs for a couple days, yesterday back to 5 eggs from 7 hens.

Just plucked 8 nice eggs from a single nest box. No eggs were in the second nest box today.

3 out of 5 today. 4 yesterday and two the day before that. At lockup I’ve been waiting til Miss Polly is on the roost before leaving and so far the eggs have been nice and clean!

At least one of mine did that last year. No laying through the winter. I guess they didn't read the book.
