How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

when I woke up this morning.....It was -35.....actual temp.....everyone I know that has chickens, theirs have stopped laying.....I am still getting 10 or 11 eggs a day out of my 11 hens......I was told they slow down in the cold????? what's going on??? not complaining mind you

cold MAY affect laying, but light is the primary reason for less eggs. It triggers a gland in their brains that says to lay if they are getting at least 14 hours of light. People who choose not to add light see a drastic drop in production and even those of us that supplement light see some drop.

14/28 but mst off the hens are in moult. One of the leghorn hybrids is in the middle of moulting and in lay.

10/11 today! had some snow and very cold but my hens are still laying good.
