Mostly cloudy all day with heavy rains all morning for here in September as most of it will never hit the ground and in the 25 mile drive each way taking the kids to school I never turned on the wipers but it did change the color of the sand a bit and the temps never got above 103 F all day so it was nice but the animals were out making noise all day long making it hard to get in that afternoon nap time ...

It's been raining here since about midnight, stopped for a short while a couple of times but areas are being flooded. And its in the 80s, better than the 100s but geez the rain is ridiculous. My backyard is turning into a lake. Had to replace the wood chips in the nest box with new ones because the rain soaked them... put the lid on the rubbermaid tote (nest box) this time so it doesn't get wet again but of course the girls are pooping all over it. Rain, rain go away my girls want out of the coop to play.
Where are you located? Arizona? Heard about those awful floods there

I think anyone on BYC gets it! Maybe everyone else it nuts and we are the sane ones! :) my sister said to me that it's funny how I talk lovingly about my chickens. She is thinking about getting some now! I only have 4 now but I am sure chicken math is going to sink in, definitely next year sometime. We are planning to hatch some ourselves!
i started off with 2 last year and now I have 13 and I want more!!! Love them!!!

Yup. It's been a crazy day. It rained from midnight to probably about 2pm with only a few breaks. My chickens didn't seem to mind though and when the rain died down a bit I did finally let them out of the coop/run. I am sure they found some tasty bugs today!

We started off with 5 and had 1 die last week. 3 of the chickens belong to the neighbors but live here and the other 2 are ours. The one that died belonged to the neighbors (the oldest child) and she was quite upset by it. Anyway we are already planning on getting her a new chick in the spring and my youngest did not get to pick a chick since she wasn't even a year old but we have decided to let her pick one in the spring as well. And we have plans to hatch some probably around the same time as we get the 2 chicks that way they have some buddies! Chicken math is gonna get me in trouble!! Hopefully when we are finally able to move we can get a house with more yard!!

Big Fat 0 today!! But I half expected it as my 2 layers both laid about 4pm yesterday and it rained ALL day today. I am really hoping my EE and BR decide to join in the fun here shortly. I am dying to see what color eggs the EE gives us... I just noticed yesterday that she has white ear lobes so I am guessing it will definitely not be brown eggs. Don't red ear lobes mean brown eggs and white ear lobes mean white or colored? Anyway, we will see what tomorrow brings!

My count will be down from now on. Yesterday I had 11/11. This morning my Pearly-girl, one of my most dependable hens as well as being friendly and gorgeous, died. This stinks.

That is/was a beautiful chicken!

8/20 three of my four red stars have started laying at 5 months, and these girls don't take a break. Everyone else is either molting or just slowed down.

4/5 so far. I usually don't get eggs in the afternoon but I have a couple that have just started laying in the last few days so who knows. I have one that I know isn't laying yet. she isn't red yet but she squats. I have been having trouble figuring out who lays what egg. I had figured it out with one of them. But today I caught my favorite chicken, Pineapple, on the nest. She lays big round brown eggs. And she was my first layer. Go figure, I did ask her every day to please lay me an egg and she loves me as much as her little chicken brain can love so of course she would be my first layer. She layed her first XL egg today.

2/4, I'm liking this day already. I even got 1 to actually use the nest box. Now if the other 2 would start laying and the 1st layer would use the nest box that would be awesome.
