How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I'm curious--is there a reason why there was a "don't eat the eggs!" time? I'm new to chickens and I haven't heard of that yet.

Thanks!!

There are "withdrawal periods" associated with certain medications - such as de-worming medications, antibiotics, etc - to avoid pass-through consumption via the eggs. The length of time will vary by treatment.

cant moan its only been a week since they came too us and they have laid everyday :)

2 so far from 3 hens. Two Buff Orps and One Barred Rock. Some days I get 1, some days I get 3. Wonder if that's normal? Or if I'm doing something wrong?

Hens lay approximately every 25 to 26 hours, and only during daylight hours. So, it's realistic to get about 4 to 5 eggs per week from good layers. With 3 chickens, that's about a dozen or so eggs per week, maybe a little more. Also, production can be expected to increase or decrease with the length of the days. So, as long as they "average" that amount, you've can be comforted knowing that your girls are doing a good job. (The breeds you mentioned are generally considered to be good layers.)

Since my Cuckoo Marans appear to be hybrids, a little bit Barred Rocks somewhere in there, not sure when they will begin to do their duty. They are sleeping in the nesting boxes instead of on their roosting poles. Slackers!

Thank you! They all three will be a year old in June. Does that make a difference as far as how many will be layed? Thanks so much for the info! My girls collected two eggs today!
