How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

10/15 - 1 from Black Copper Marans that was on winter break. Wondering if laying breaks are almost over am so tempted to buy some production pullets for spring.

Yesterday:
1 tan, 1 green...and a white egg!

Old OEGB started laying again, I guess.

Today:
1 tan egg. Nice!

weather has been wonky so I've had a decrease with the girls. The other day I got 7 eggs, day before yesterday I only got 3 eggs, yesterday I got 2, and today I got 7. Today I got one from a new layer so I'm up to 9 laying now!

Well......... this is pretty much breaking news here.......

FWIW, from what I've seen and read (much of the latter on this very thread!) I think I can draw some general conclusions:

Young hens = more eggs.

More light = more eggs.

Layer Breeds = more eggs.

Less Change in routine = more eggs.

More protien in the diet = more eggs.

Keep them well hydrated = more eggs.

.....

conversely:

Old chickens = less eggs.

Relying on January sun for light = less eggs.

Ornamental or meat bird breeds = less eggs.

Change anything in their coop or diet = less eggs, until they get used to it.

Feed them scratch or corn in significant amounts = less eggs.

Don't give them all the water they care to drink = less eggs.

Doubtless, I have forgotten something ..... add if you think simething needs added.......
