Yesterday 10/12... Lost a laying hen to a dog next door. Crazy bird jumped the fence and the dog thought she was a toy. Crunch.

None yet today.

can you say ouch... sorry about the hen, when I brought new Barred
pullets home our shepard accidentally got locked in the building with
them and picked one up piercing the stomach it was not chewed or wet.
think she was curious.

I received 50 day old cock chicks today. All 50 doing good.
Eggs count: 35/37 and 6/10

9 eggs

8 eggs from the control group ya the first time every girl produced an egg on the same day I guess it is spring time

1 egg from the free ranging chickens, yes I do believe they took a holiday on me or the crows were extra vigilant

Temp 74F degrees and a very nice day

Hatched on the 1st of April 2016

and the eggs were put in the incubator on the 13th of March 2016 but they are both healthy and happy

I think I am going to need to sell some more chicks as I am being over run and the brooder is full

and I have more eggs ready to go in the incubator this weekend

Hi guys. The weather is perfect today!!! After 2 solid weeks of rain it looks like we get to start on the new coop.

please God. No more fires. We plan on building a second coop for the smaller breeds in about 2 weeks as well. I just think it would be a good idea. We have standard large birds and now have a ton of bantams and silkie sized birds. These chicks I would worry about with the large birds.

Oh yes!!! That hits the spot. I was up half the night with a kid who has the stomach bug. She snuggled up to me at about 3am and whispered " Mommy I threw up again. I'm sorry. "

Broke my heart. I cleaned her up, cleaned the bed and changed everything and sat with her for 3 hours reading stories and holding her. At about 6:30 she drifted off to sleep. Just in time for my son to wake up
