Now you are getting a great egg count![]()
Are your temps staying under 100F degrees ?
I've had 2 chickens found dead in coops the last 3 days. The first was a juvenile cornish cross (meat chicken) and the 2nd was a Rhode Island red cross hen. The cornish might have gotten scared by the dog or clumsily fallen off the ramp. The Rhode Island red cross I think was egg bound & I didn't know it. She looked like she had the blue green discoloration that I have seen once before from an infection and she had a bulge that looked like an egg. I've been so busy with my Mom, I just didn't notice. I haven't been getting out there to the coop a lot of nights until 11 PM.We have had drizzle days the last two weeks... now we are headed to high 80's
maybe low 90's... fairly certain the barreds are are not in molt just yet but are being little
pains to any changes I make getting between 3 and 5 daily now my little
black sex-link and easter eggers pullets are bordering 19 weeks old
1 of the broody hens had 2 busted eggs under her. It made a mess of the other eggs she was sitting on. I wiped them off the best I could. I did candle 1 of the white eggs & could see the beginning of some veining! I couldn't see anything going on in the dark brown eggs, but I left them under her any way. I am thinking they should hatch around the 9th of July.
