How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

8 inches of snow yesterday, 6 Fahrenheit at 5am. Chickens will not come out of coop. Collected 2 eggs. 15 Fahrenheit at 9am, real feel 6 F. Chickens still in coop, very happy to see me. I petted them, held 3, 2 don't like to be held. I coax 3 to venture under the coop with scratch grains but got their fill and back into the coop they went. Collected 3 eggs. 5/5 today. At 12:30pm its 17 F and sunny, chickens still in coop. First time this winter my girls are not outside the coop and I don't blame them. GC
I don't blame them either! Our girls haven't been out in forever due to this weather.

5 yesterday, 9 today - temps are still in single digits

3 today, plus 1 soft shelled egg on the poop board this morning. Looks like I have a fifth hen laying, possibly Worse. It's hard to tell between her egg and the lighter brown one that either Penny or Patty lays, so I think I've gotten mixed up about that before. I give up trying to figure out who lays what!

Morning-
This is my first go-round with hens. I got 4 back in August, and they are happy little ladies... We are in San Antonio, and the last couple of days have been rather chilly - lows in the high teens and twenties and highs in the 30s. I honestly expected them to "take those days off" due to the cold. Nope - the first day we got 5 eggs, and yesterday I got 7. I'm not sure if I should be super proud of the girls or worried...lol. Either way, it was a nice surprise to head out there and see all of them in the nesting box.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Chicken will not lay eggs, if sick, disturbed, or stressed, so don't worry, and enjoy their eggs!
