Here is my broody and her 1 chick she hatched out of 12 eggs. She's a first time broody. She is defending her chick very well and showing her food, how to scratch and where to get water. She has taken her outside since day 2 or 3. The little chick can barely make it back inside the coop! She hasn't figured out the ramp because Momma just jumps/flies up to the level going into the coop and doesn't take the ramp from the ground up! I've been going out in the evening and opening the man door and moving the shavings blocker (keeps the shavings in the coop). Then with 3 or 4 tries the little chick can manage to jump up that high and go in through the man door.








Here is my barred rock. She went broody first, but the other broody stole her nest while the barred rock was off of it. They kept stealing it back and forth and then finally the barred rock switched to another nest of eggs. These are due on Wednesday.

Hope not too, except a right hand surgery, wife is the one that can hardly walk and missed a week of work.
