The egg color can change some throughout the year. For me it is most notable with my chocolate egg layers. Most of the time their eggs are a nice dark chocolate brown but at other times the are a light tan. I think it just depends on how much pigment gets deposited on the shell before it is laid.View attachment 1097914 Today was awesome! But first, I want to say last night I got home from work and I had 3 eggs and yesterday morning I had 1. So I had 4 eggs total from 5 hens! This morning I go out and I had 5 eggs! I was excited but also I'm kinda concerned because one egg is nice and large but also had a funny shade to it. I have two black sex links that give me small to medium size light brown eggs and 3 RIR's that give me a nice bronze large egg. Based on the size of this egg I'm gonna assume that it came from one of my RIR's. And since I'm new the color may not be a big deal. But I will attach a photo because it almost had a purple hue to it. Any advice would be awesome.. thank you!
