I would say so though I have no specific knowledge. I give my 19 a single 5 oz cat food can of BOSS in the morning and one of scratch in late afternoon. Other than that they have 24x7 layer pellets. 16% protein I think. And kitchen stuff like apple cores, meat fat (which they LOVE), etc.

It isn't too much in winter and/or when they're molting. Mine molted super late and VERY hard, so they needed the extra calories and protein. I would probably only give them 1/3 of that for the rest of the year, though.
