How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Why do you need new layers so fast? Do you sell eggs?

I think 11 eggs so far today with one hen in the box. Rained like crazy a little while ago - lightening really close too. Big wind as well. Summer in SE Florida!

Today I got one egg from 6 chickens. 3 are adults and 3 are 25 week old pullets. The egg came from the Welsummer pullet. Other pullets are a Brown Leghorn and an Easter Egger. Adults are Salmon Faverolles, one 3/12 years old and two 2 1/2 year olds. One adult is molting, the other two laid yesterday. I think this is how chicken math really starts! You need a few eggs for a small family and so you think well maybe 4 is enough, well not when 2 go broody and one molts! lol Then you get reinforcements and the Welsummer beats the Leghorn to first egg!

Yep 11 eggs today. Found that 2 are moulting. Neither Lily or Angel laid either. And only 2 eggs out of the leghorns. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

I got 23 eggs today, I have no idea how many laying hens I have I guess about 30 and my Dominiques are playing easter bunny and hiding their eggs so I probably got 25 if I include what they likely laid.. I will find their new hiding spot sometime this week.

I only got 4 yesterday too! My big coop, either no one is laying or they are laying in the broody's nest box.
Went peach and apple picking today at Eckert's over in Belleville, Illinois. Came home and made an apple crisp and then a peach crisp. Have plenty of peaches left for canning or making jam or jelly.
Haven't looked for eggs yet today.

When ever I have a broody, thats where most if not all the hens lay. Pain in the behind because then the Broody has so many eggs that are at so many different stages of development...

I have 26 eggs right now with one more coop to check. Every time I check that coop the hens escape so I just check it at night or when the hens are not near the Chicken Run entrance. I believe they hate their rooster.

I have 5 so far may get a couple more but doubt it
