How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

5 eggs out of 12 hens but my fridge is full !

I’ve been making a lot of egg salad and deviled eggs lately to use up a bunch of eggs. Luckily I found my neighbors really love the deviled eggs! It’s a great (and easy) way to ‘pay’ them for using their electric netting!

10 eggs out of 15 layers!!

Our broody momma might start to lay again soon...it’s been about 7-8 weeks since she’s laid an egg, but she spent the last 5 weeks raising some chicks for us! Last night she went to the main coop to sleep, rather than the brooder, which means her momma hormones are waning. She is still attentive a bit to the chicks, but no longer calls them for food, but responds when they are in distress.

Didn’t you taste it as you made it??

I did, but I don't know what it is suppose to taste like. Is it suppose to be sweet or tart?

I think the answer is "Yes" given the recipe called for 0 to 2 cups of sugar. No sugar = tart, 2 cups of sugar = glucose spike and the need for more insulin.

As long as you like what it tastes like it’s neither too sweet or too tart IMO.

So the question is... do you like it??

Huh. My leghorns continue to mess with me. Had 2 eggs out of the 3 of them in their separate coop. I assumed it was Cruella and BoPeep since Isis is pale and has growths. So I let them out to mingle with the flock and cause general mayhem. I saw Cruella go into the regular nest boxes. I figured she was causing chaos as usual. Later I went out and there was a leghorn egg in the box. I was excited to think Angel finally laid a good egg in the box after days of dropped soft eggs off the roost. However a review of the camera shows it was indeed Cruella. That means Isis did lay after all! That’s still great news! It means everyone has for sure laid an egg in the past 3 days.

On the down side I had a broken brown egg today out on the run pavers. That area isn’t under camera coverage so no way to be sure who laid it. Could have been a stuck to the butt Marti egg that finally dropped off. Or someone else.
