The ones we buy at Costco have yellow yolks am actually very surprised as
nothing in my coop is laying just now

Hi everyone! I’m back. Sitters left most of the day’s eggs for me. I got 9 and they got 2 so 11 out if 15 today. They said they got 10 a day on average which is pretty good overall I think.

11 eggs today. Kinda low for how many chickens I have but I sold a lot recently and some stopped laying due to shorter days and others slowed down because of short days.

0 here main coop but one silkie layed I have 4 in their own coop my aliens

ZERO again Thursday, one yesterday.

I bought some “free range” at Market Basket (not a warehouse but a less expensive supermarket) and the yolks were a pallid yellow. No wonder they were cheap! Hope yours were better!

I thought my girls' eggs had dark yolks because of their varied diet and free ranging. BUT one of the ingredients in the Poulin Layer is:

Marigold extract
For consistent, deep yellow egg yolks and increased lutein in eggs"

Thats going on now with my older birds.. however most of my layers are in their first year so many will avoid a molt this fall. I tend to sell them before they get a year old and hatch out every 3 weeks to replenish them. Every 3 weeks I tend to get new layers with their pullet eggs.

here I have a few that are 5 they had been laying but for a few weeks to molt this has been harder on them I will pull them and sell them if not back in action soon my silkie are getting back to it as I took the three blue marans they raising bought what was 10 turned out to be 15 ooops my bad did not count but honestly she has some blue cochin if their the big ones I will buy a few when I go to pay for extra
