Need a Black Copper Maran for the chocolate eggs!

It counts as a bantam egg at least but that other one counts as at least 4 eggs!!!!

I used to think that I didn’t want Marans but now I think I do lol do they have a good personality? Now to figure out where to get pink and blue eggs...

Marans have awesome personalities! Not the biggest of all cuddlers, but friendly, sweet, kind, great foragers, and very alert to the presence of predators. Roos have been known to fight off everything from hawks to dogs! They are my second-favorite breed after Jersey Giants. Amazing classically beautiful dual purpose birds!

I thought I read somewhere they were a bit mean or flighty or something? I might be totally making that up LOL

I love my BCM, they come running anytime I'm outside! Some of their eggs look pink because, I've got one whose bloom is so heavy it makes the eggs look pink when it is dry, and super brown when wet!

I have three FBCM pullets that were bought from Privett Hatchery. They are very human friendly birds. They have the same personality as my Speckled Sussex. Out of 19 chickens in one coop, they are closer to the top of the pecking order second to two older white Leghorns. They all three lay #4 on the Marans egg color chart which is considered average. I’m happy with them.

Whoa!! That one in the middle on the far left almost looks purple to me! that’s amazing!! I need Marans then it seems

I thought I read once they were mean but I don’t remember where but need to reconsider them I guess haha

It seems you guys have all had great experiences with them and they seem like fantastic birds so I’m not really sure where I got the mean thing from or why I decided I didn’t like them much... I don’t think I ever gave them a fair chance.

Guess they’re back on the list! LOL

They're friendly and follow me around everywhere, the only ornery birds I have is two guineas that don't like new or change.

They sound amazing!! Maybe the aggression thing was towards other birds not people?? Are they mean to other birds at all?? I used to want guineas but I’ve heard they’re extremely loud lol
