How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

4 so far according to the egg cam(one ceramic egg in each box) , gonna go fetch em after coffee

So I went out to work in my yard a bit today, and my missing lady was right there in the yard having a drink. I went inside for just a minute and she disappeared on me again! I searched every inch of my yard and couldn't find her. I'm wondering if she flew over the fence to some super secret hidey spot.
She truly could NOT have picked a worse time to decide she wants to stay out at night... I've had a mountain lion walking my fence line for the past few nights!!

I had a hen disappear several years back. Figured she was picked off by the numerous critters we have here. One morning while feeding I heard the familiar cluck of a broody. Thinking that’s odd I don’t have a broody I continued to feed. Heading back in from feeding is when I saw her and her chicks. Completely unexpected.

Would have had 14, but someone broke an egg in the nest where I was working on a semi broody pullet. Wrecked the other 10 that were in the nest. That left 10 eggs to go in the house. All either bantam or new layer. None were very big. There may have been more, but we have been dealing with a sneaky critter stealing and eating eggs out of one pen. I fixed that issue last night. (I didn't shoot anything, I reinforced the door fencing)

That is how it was with mine. Do you have a rooster? Could she be sitting on fertile eggs? Not the case here.

Why would a broken egg in the nest wreck the rest?

@bruceha2000 I do have several roosters... I think she's setting on a hidden nest of eggs somewhere.
